Buying Timeshare
Why Buy a Resale Timeshare?
Timeshare vacations are a lifestyle choice, giving you access to tremendous resorts at an affordable cost. No matter what type of vacation appeals to you, there's a timeshare that will fit your needs. We'll help you find the timeshare ownership that's right for you, providing years of vacations you'll enjoy and fees that work with your budget.
Buying a resale timeshare will save you money. Resale timeshares are currently about 50%, or less, of the price you would pay to a timeshare developer when buying direct from the resort. Because timeshares typically depreciate, much like cars, don't think of timeshare ownership as a real estate investment. Instead, think of buying a timeshare as a smart investment in your future vacations.
If you are thinking of upgrading your existing timeshare ownership, then we may be able to arrange a part-exchange for a resale timeshare that is better suited to your holiday style or you may want to consider converting your timeshare ownership to RCI Timeshare Points, which would give you greater holidaying flexibility and cheaper timeshare exchange and booking fees.
Which Timeshare to Buy?
How do you like to vacation? Are you keen golfers? Do you prefer your holiday resorts and destinations to be more family orientated? Do you like to go to the same place year after year or are you still searching for your perfect vacation destination? Checkout our resale timeshare listings with weeks available from under £1,000.
If you have already found your ideal holiday destination, you may want to consider owning there. If, on the other hand, you enjoy the adventure of holidaying at different destinations, you may want to purchase resale Timeshare Points or a resale timeshare based on its trading power within the timeshare exchange systems, i.e. RCI timeshare & Interval World, so that you may holiday at different timeshare resorts around the world!
The price you pay for a Resale Timeshare will depend upon a number of factors:
- The demand for the holiday destination and the resort.
- The timeshare's trading power and the timeshare resort's exchange power
- The onsite location and size of the apartment
- The demand for the timeshare's Time Band or Week Number. For example school holiday timeshare weeks have higher exchange power - check out our Timeshare Planning Calendars (opens a new window) for change-over dates.
- When considering a Floating Timeshare week: Red Floating timeshare weeks generally mean that you can enjoy a vacation at any time of year - especially within the school summer holidays.
- If you are looking to upgrade your existing timeshare ownership or buy timeshare purely to use for exchanging, then you may want to consider Timeshare Points, which can provide you with greater flexibility and savings when choosing your vacations.
What about Trading Power?
There are two main factors used in determining timeshare trading/exchange power. The first is the demand for your resort by other timeshare owners within the timeshare exchange system. For instance. RCI's timeshare exchange system tracks historical demand patterns at their affiliated timeshare resorts and the demand trends balanced against resort availability influence the trading value and exchange power of each week deposited.
Secondly it is very important to deposit your timeshare week early. The earlier the timeshare exchange company receives your deposit, the more time they have to utilize it in an exchange for other destinations and resorts where you want to holiday.
For the purpose of making a good exchange, it is more important to own timeshare in high demand areas, like the United Kingdom, Madeira, Greece, Florida USA and to deposit early, than to own at Gold Crown or Premier resorts in less highly demanded areas or at unfavourable times of the year.
By staying focused on these two factors, you can save money and look forward to getting the holiday exchanges you want.
Decide which Timeshare Exchange company you would like your home resort to be affiliated to - the main Timeshare Exchange Companies are RCI timeshare and Interval World. Many timeshare resorts are dual affiliated, which means owners have the option to join both timeshare exchange companies. Also consider which country or area your timeshare resort needs to be located in or tell us if you are looking for a timeshare week purely to use for exchanging.
Other Factors to Consider When Buying Timeshare
- If you have specific holiday criteria, consider what onsite and local facilities and attractions suit your criteria, then check that your chosen timeshare resort is able provide these during your holiday stay as some timeshare resorts are seasonal.
- If you are tied to holidaying at a particular time year then you should consider buying a fixed timeshare week at a suitable timeshare resort. You can check out our Timeshare Planning Calendars for the timeshare weeks and check-in dates that correspond to your holiday period.
-
If you are able to holiday at a different time each year, then you may want consider buying a floating timeshare week or buying Timeshare Points, which will give you the flexibility to select a different holiday week and destination each year.
-
How many people normally holiday with you? Consider the size of unit you require to ensure that all members of your party can be accommodated.
-
If you are looking for a timeshare to use purely for exchanging, then consider the exchange power of the timeshare. You may also want to checkout RCI Timeshare Points, which offer greater flexibility and cheaper exchange fees.
